Can You Remember Your Secondary School Fellowship?

Mine was "Fellowship of Holiness Doctrine"(FHD).  That is what it was called way back at Command Secondary School, Abakaliki, present day Ebonyi State.

My first participation at the fellowship was in JSS 2.  Of course, they used a classroom for meetings and occasionally used the military barracks protestant church for their fellowship.  I don't know the history of the fellowship but all I can remember were the excos at some point especially Jacob Edet, Chinedu, James, Jubril as well as the patron of the fellowship, Mr. Matthew Ogundiran who was a teacher in the school.  These guys literally etched their names in my heart due to their consistency and commitment.

As small as that fellowship was, it was dynamic.  I witnessed for the first time in my life, the demonstration of the power of the Holy Spirit.  Secondary School students organised special programmes where the anointing of the Holy Spirit was invoked.  People fell under anointing and spoke in different tongues.  FHD was not a place to toy with when it comes to power, purity and praise.  Without musical instruments, students praised God with their hands and mouths.  The songs made sense and ministered to the soul.  Of course, the songs are in sharp contrast with today's songs especially at Pentecostal churches. In fact, my secondary school fellowship laid the foundation for my christian life.  Many people who got associated with it are still standing firm in the faith.

"How is your christian life?"
"How is your prayer life?"
"How much of the word of God do you have in your heart?"
"Or you're just busy for Him?"

These lines are excerpts from a popular song whose wordings were used to interrogate one another back then.  Brethren were always their fellow brothers' gatekeepers.  Compromise with worldly affairs was not tolerated.  As young students, attending social gatherings or parties in campus was highly forbidden.  It was really a place where character and faith were moulded.

It is with nostalgia that I remember my moments at FHD.  I sincerely hope the Fellowship is still in existence, 19 years after! Hopeful to visit my alma mater soon and bring reports about the fellowship to us.

How was your secondary school fellowship experience like?  Wanna relieve those precious moments with us?  Anyone from Scripture Union, NIFES, FCS (Fellowship of Christian Students), etc?  Pls share them in the comments sections.  How good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!

Chorus 1

O, how good it is
When brethren dwell together,
Dwell together in unity;
O, how good it is
When brethren dwell together,
Dwell together in unity.

Verse 1

For there the Lord
Commands a blessing,
Life forevermore;
For there the Lord
Commands a blessing,
Life forevermore

Verse 2

For there the Lord
Pours out His Spirit,
Like a river that overflows;
For there the Lord
Pours out His Spirit,
Let Your river flow.
