Someone needs that cheer!

Joseph M. Scriven composed the timeless song "What a Friend We Have in Jesus" wayback in 1855 to comfort his mother who was living in Ireland while he lived in Canada. That song, not only comforted his mother, but has also been comforting millions of Christians all over the world from generation to generation. When last did you send a word or a note of cheer to your brother, sister, friend, parent, colleague, loved one or acquaintance?

We all, like Joseph's mom, need someone to comfort us in this journey of faith. Many times we face countless temptations, persecutions, pressures that tend to push us to compromise and sometimes, denial of our very salvation. The harsh economic realities in our country today has put many households and individuals at the precipice of life. Many even find it difficult to eat one meal per day. Jobs are difficult to get and retain, cost of living is going high each day, in fact, the general living condition of the average Nigerian is nothing to write home about.

We must not despair rather we should encourage one another, for "many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him from them all."

Chorus:

Though the fig tree may not blossom
And though the rivers run dry
Though the world around me crumble
Though i heave and i sigh
I remember where my hope lies
Where my help comes from
If you could care about the sparrow, i know
You won’t forget me.

Verse 1:

Lord there is much that my mind cant handle
Puzzled by , the billowing of waves
Of this one thing i am certain
That you remain the god unchanging
Lord you’re watching, keepin, restoring me
You will never, forget your own

Bridge:

Through the howling wind
And through the fiery blaze
I will hold on strong
I’ll stay in your face
Let the howling wind
What it choosed bring
Even through it all
I will always sing
